Brief Account of the Research and Development Institute
The Yangtze River Pharmaceutical (Group) Co., Ltd has always followed the scientific development road, vigorously developing and invigorating the group through science and technology with heavy investment in scientific activities every year. In all, the group has invested more than a billion yuan to set up new pharmaceutical research and development centers in Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Taizhou, where the company is headquartered. It also initiated the Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Research Institute, with independent research and development venue at each branch center£¬most of which are facilitated with imported experimental equipment. The headquarters boasts a separate 2000-square-meter middle-stage test workshop which has passed the GMP accreditation. It is rare in other domestic pharmaceutical companies.
In 1998£¬ the group took the lead to launch a Post-Doctorate Scientific Research Work Station in the pharmaceutical industry in Jiangsu Province. In 2001, the Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Research Institute was accredited by state departments as a National-level Enterprise Technological Center, and later a National-level Enterprise Innovation Research Center by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2006.
In 2006, the group further integrated the research and development centers under the Institute, giving rise to four larger ones: Chemical Medicine Research and Development Center, Pharmaceutical Formulation Engineering Technology Research Center, Biological Medicine Research and Development Center, and Traditional Chinese Medicine Manufacturing Process Engineering Research Center.. Based on these centers, the company went on to found the Jiangsu (Taizhou) Research Institute on New Drugs which is devoted to the innovative research and development of chemical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, biological medicine, and formulation technology. In the same year, the Institute was listed by the provincial government, and the Provincial Department of Science and Technology as one of the provincial key institutional research and development programs during the 11th Five-year period.
The focus tasks of the research centers:
-- The Chemical Medicine Research and Development Center focuses on the design, synthesis, filtration techniques and product development concerning new anti-virus, incretion, and cardio-cerebral-vascular drugs, as well as mid-stage tests and industrialization of raw material. This project has been listed as a special technological innovation program by the National Development and Reform Commission.
-- The Traditional Chinese Medicine Manufacturing Process Engineering Research Center embarks on the application, product development and industrialization of such technologies as macroporous adsorbing resin, membrane separation technology, super fluid extraction, and super fine crushing in the manufacturing process of traditional Chinese medicine. It has been listed as a core engineering construction program by the National Development and Reform Commission, which has recently been checked and accepted by the government under the name ¡°Nanjing Hailing TCM Manufacturing Process Engineering Research Center¡±.
-- The Pharmaceutical Engineering Research Center is engaged in the application, product development and industrialization of the insoluble medicine lipid technology, controlled dilution technology, pharmaceutical-purpose technology, and TCM capsule moisture-proof auxiliary material technology. The program, named State Key Enterprise Lab of New Pharmaceutical Drugs, is among the first batch of the State Key Enterprise Laboratories.
-- Biological Medicine Research and Development Center carries out research on the application, product development and industrialization of the biological diagnostic reagent and mono-clone antibody technologies.
Since its foundation, the Institute has made the following achievement:
-- Successfully declared more than 50 scientific and technological programs with state departments, was granted some 50 million yuan.
-- Filed more than 70 applications for invention patents and won more than 20 industrial design patents, won 14 authorized invention patents and 26 outbreak design patents
-- Won authorization for more than 200 drug batches, all of which have been marketed; sales profits from new products accounted for 50 percent of the entire group¡¯s total, bringing in remarkable economic returns.
